Steve Allison Director, Contemporary School of Fine Arts Drum Set & Total Percussion Instructor
Steve was born in Houston, TX, and began studying drum set at age 6 with Joe Raynor. He attended MacArthur High School in Houston where he played in the jazz band and was a member of the All-Region Jazz band for two years. He also received Outstanding Soloist from NAJE in 1982 at the U.T. Jazz Festival. After spending high school summers at the University of Arizona, Steve began working to become a more well rounded musician/ percussionist.
“...I grew up wanting to only play drum set, but now I love playing mallets, timpani, Latin percussion, or anything else I can get my hands on, and I believe it’s important for all drummers to be well rounded musicians.” |
- Steve was the drummer for Lakewood Church from 1994 through 2006. - Percussion Specialist in Klein I.S.D. Spring, Texas from 1993 through 2005. - Director of the Sam Houston State University Drum line from 2003 through 2004. - Performed in the showrooms of Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Aspen, Nashville, Japan and Singapore Steve has performed with show bands on various cruise ships, as well as, tours to major cities with Joel Osteen and Lakewood Church.
Steve has also played for these Houston area Churches: Second Baptist, First Baptist, Evangelistic Temple, The City of Light, and The Worship Center.
