Positions

Drums
This position is foundational to the MET band as the time keeper. The drummer is responsible for maintaining rhythmic integrity, click programming, and facilitating segues. The minimum requirements include: the ability to keep time to a click track and the ability to play various grooves and patterns. It is helpful to read rhythm charts and patterns.

Bass
The bassist and drummer work cohesively together to provide a rhythmic and harmonic foundation for the team. This position is largely responsible for the groove and musical structure. The MET bassist should have a good understanding of chord theory, be comfortable reading rhythm and chord charts, and be able to improvise as styles dictate.

Rhythm Guitar
The MET rhythm guitarist is responsible for the drive, especially as it relates to up-tempo selections. The rhythm guitarist should have an excellent working knowledge of chord structures and rhythms, as well as, chord and rhythm charts.

Lead Guitar
The lead guitarist plays a vital role in providing color to the MET sound. You should be proficient in playing power chords, motifs, melodic lines and fills. The ability to lift motifs by ear is beneficial, as well as, the ability to read tablature and rhythm charts.

Keyboards
The keyboardist is responsible for foundational chords and well-defined voicing of embellished chords and colors. Often the keyboardist pads as an underscore for prayer and segues. An excellent understanding of theory is required for this position. In addition to piano, the MET keyboardist should be comfortable utilizing synths as well as the Hammond organ.

Horn Section
The MET horn section includes pop or jazz horn instrumentation utilizing the Trumpet, Trombone, and Sax. These musicians are auditioned and should be confident and comfortable. Often the horn line accents the rhythm section with highly syncopated hits and tight harmonies. Rhythmic and stylistic integrity is extremely important for the horns.

Orchestra
The MET orchestra accompanies worship services for the MET Classic service, as well as events and special performances. The orchestra is an auditioned group. This is an excellent opportunity for musicians to be a part of the worship ministry for large scale events. The rehearsals are hosted be the best clinicians Houston has to offer.

Arranger | Composer
Arrangers often create rhythm or chord charts either as an adaptation of a song or as a lift of an artists' rendition. They will write instrumental parts for horn or strings as the color and style of the song requires.

Hospitality Team
The essential personnel needed to serve for each worship experience is currently around 30 people. These volunteers are here for long spans with relatively little break time. The hospitability team is responsible for setting up food and refreshments for the technical and instrumental volunteers during Sunday services.
