Originally a drummer, guitar has been Joe Gavito’s weapon of choice for the last 31 years. Soaring leads coupled with a percussive approach to rhythm guitar has allowed Joe to lead a successful career as a much-in-demand guitarist in the Houston area. Joe has played with several people of note including The Original Texas Playboys, Chris Walker, Charlie Pride, Ezra Charles and the Works, Larry Gatlin, Johnny Nash, Alex Harvey, BJ Thomas, Dean Scott, Bill Nash, Gary Smith, The Platters, Israel Houghton and Nashville songwriters Whitey Schaffer and Freddie Powers. He performed with local band “Doppelganger” at the Presidential Inauguration Ball (2005) and in 2004 traveled to China with recording artist Chris Walker. He has also opened for Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Cheap Trick, Willie Nelson, and Merle Haggard. Joe currently resides in Houston with his wife, Tamara, and daughters Jessica and JoLee.
